Overview
Medical equipment is often expensive, difficult to store, and unnecessary to own long-term. Many individuals only need items such as wheelchairs, walkers, or mobility aids for short periods of time, yet existing rental services are frequently inconvenient, limited in availability, or tied to traditional brick-and-mortar locations.
MedRent is a concept service that reimagines medical equipment rentals through an app-connected autonomous kiosk network located in high-density residential communities, apartment complexes, and care facilities. Inspired by the convenience of services such as Redbox and modern self-service kiosks, the platform allows users to reserve, rent, and return equipment quickly and affordably through a mobile application.

The concept was inspired by a real-world observation: my husband's great aunt regularly rented a wheelchair on weekends to attend church and community events but had little need for it during the week. This highlighted a gap between temporary medical needs and ownership-based solutions. MedRent explores how technology can make essential equipment more accessible while reducing costs, storage requirements, and barriers to independence.
